MINUTES OF THE MARCH 6, 2009
CORONADO CROSSING RC&D
BOARD MEETING
Clark County – Minneola Civic Center
Minneola, KS

I. The regular meeting of the Coronado Crossing RC&D was called to order March 6, 2009 at 1:10pm by Jerry Rakes, Vice President. Due to a schedule conflict, Lea Ann arrived shortly after the start of the meeting.

II. AGENDA:
Ed Elam made a motion to approve the agenda it was seconded by Kim Woods. Motion Carried

Present were: Lea Ann Seiler, Jerry Rakes, Roger Masenthin, Kim Woods, Ron Temaat, Rodger DeGarmo, Sara Fredrickson, and Ed Elam.

III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Ed Elam made a motion to approve the January 9, 2008 meeting minutes and it was seconded by Kim Woods. Motion carried.

IV. FINANCIAL REPORT:
Ed Elam provided a copy of the Financial Report at the meeting. Ed reported that everything balances with the bank. Kim Woods made a motion to approve the Financial Report and it was seconded by Rodger DeGarmo. Motion carried.

V. CORRESPONDENCE:
• Thank You – Coronado Crossing received a Thank you note with pictures for the bikes that were received by a couple in Dodge City.

VI. OLD BUSINESS:
a) Project Updates –
? Bikes – Coronado crossing received a Thank you note and pictures of two children with there bikes. Rodger stated that during the trash and treasures day in Meade they will be saving bikes for the program. Roger M. will put a press release together to be printed and sent out by the last week of March notifying everyone about the program.
? KHFH – 1236lbs of deer meat will be distributed in the seven counties Coronado crossing covers. South Fork from Ness City will be participating in the KHFH program next year (2009/2010). Lea Ann made a suggestion of putting fliers out at all hotels and hunting lodges providing information about the project. The deer have to be field dressed. Beef, buffalo and sheep have also been donated in the past.
? Recycling Center – All paperwork has been received. Lea Ann provided the information to Jerry that EMC insurance has an education and loss protection program that will provide signs and safety DVDs.
? Trees / Forest Service – Ron Temaat will follow up with John Klempa. The Kansas technical committee has added the windbreak renovation and reestablishment; Ron will provide more information at the next meeting.
b) Member at-Large positions – There was discussion that 1 to 2 positions has been added to each county. We ask everyone to look for more members to fill at-large positions.

c) National RC&D Conference – The National RC&D Conference will be held on June 14th in Albuquerque, NM. The new officer training will be held at the conference. It is strongly encouraged as many attend the National Conference as possible. The coordinator should be able to attend as well.

d) 2009 Sponsorship Contribution Drive – Lea Ann will need a list of county clerks and districts to send the sponsorship requests to.

VII. NEW BUSINESS:
a) Acting Coordinator Report – Roger presented the Civil Rights / EEO power point. Roger stated there are two coordinator positions open at this time.
b) New Project Considerations – There were several new projects discussed Energy Conservation & Development Initiatives, Honor Flights – Ed will be checking into more information for RC&D, Agri-Tourism and Woody Species / Biomass. A forum to include all 7 counties involved with RC&D to participate in was also discussed. Ed will provide more information.
c) Announcements and Other New Business – A reminder to send a letter to your legislative to support RC&D in the 2008 Farm Bill.

IX. ADJOURNMENT:
Meeting adjourned at 4:17 P.M. The next schedule meeting will take place in Meade County (Meade) on May 7, 2009 location to be determined.
