MINUTES OF THE
CORONADO CROSSING RC&D
BOARD MEETING
Hodgeman County Kings Center
Jetmore, KS

I. The regular meeting of the Coronado Crossing RC&D was called to order September 3, 2009 at 1:15pm by Lea Ann Seiler, President.

II. AGENDA:
Kim Woods motion to approve the agenda it was seconded by Rodger DeGarmo. Motion Carried

Present were: Rodger DeGarmo, Lea Ann Seiler, Roger Masenthin, Sarah Fredrickson, Kymberly Jenkinson, Carolyn Quillen, James Pena, Kari Morris, Gary Hedrick, C.J. Wettstein

III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Rodger DeGarmo made a motion to approve the July 2, 2009 meeting minutes with spelling corrections to Kymberly Jenkinson’s name and the addition of Carolyn Quillen it was seconded by Kim Woods. Motion carried.

IV. FINANCIAL REPORT:
Ed Elam provided a copy of the Financial Report; an updated copy will be provided at the Annual Meeting.

V. CORRESPONDENCE:

• KS Secretary of State Notice – Annual Report – Due – The report was taken care of on August 20, 2009.
• SW KS 150 year (Sesquicentennial) Commemoration @ State-Wide Planning Meeting – Lea Ann Seiler attended this meeting and is welcoming any ideas and will be attending the meeting Nov. 13, 2009. SW Kansas had 3 representatives.
• Had an inquiry from City of Sublette about possible assistance with a community drainage study for a flooding issue.

VI. OLD BUSINESS:
Project Updates –

a) KHFH – Hodgeman County is working on a hunting guide for there area. Roger will get the updated press release for papers and newsletter.
b) Member at-Large positions – Nathan Foreman from Seward County has contacted.
c) Circle of Diamonds – The Circle of Diamonds was discussed and will be looked in to further.
d) 2009 Sponsorship Contribution Drive –Thank You notes have been sent.

e) County Commission Forum – No forward movement at this time.
f) KS RC&D Conference - Council had previously approved expenditures for attendance, but due to schedule conflicts no one can attend.
g) Project considerations/ Topic Interests:
a. Energy Conservation and Development Initiatives – Solar Pump Tour end of September mentioned; information will be sent to Roger.
b. Honor Flights
c. Noxious Weed and/or Woody Species/Biomass CIG
d. KS Ag and Rural Leadership (KARL) Program Awareness
h) Other: James Pena from NRCS has volunteered to help with translating information RC&D might need. James email address is james.pena@ks.usda.gov. Roger will forward information and income eligibility for the Interfaith Housing to all in attendance.

VII. NEW BUSINESS:

a) Acting Coordinator Report – Roger asked the different counties about the Master Fire Plans they have in place. Roger gave a report concerning other programs, such as the Master Fire Plans that other RC&Ds statewide are involved with. Roger went over information he collected from the correspondence. Also, mentioned information about USDA Conservation conversations website an opportunity to capture Earth Team Volunteer hours.
b) Pheasant Hunter’s Paradise – C.J. gave a short presentation about the history of the barn that Pheasant Hunter’s Paradise was located in. C.J.’s dad built the barn in 1948 for the purpose of dairy. The barn was later renovated into the lodge by C.J.
c) New Project Considerations – There were several new projects discussed Energy Conservation & Development Initiatives, Honor Flights and the SW KS 150 year (Sesquicentennial) Commemoration.
d) Announcements and Other New Business:
• KS 150 year Celebration- next meeting will be Jan. 2010.
• KS Scenic Byway Program
• Conservation Education Field Days

IX. ADJOURNMENT:

Meeting adjourned at 3:05 P.M. The next scheduled meeting will take place in Dodge City on October 29, 2009 at 1:00pm location to be determined.
